Finally, the truth from an Ontario Liberal!

Residents Fight To Stop The Sherway Power PlantThis is a rare moment indeed but an Ontario Liberal has actually stated something publicly that many of us have known for a long time. And here we thought that a truthful Ontario Liberal was an oxymoron! [Read more...]

What is a Green Job Anyway?

So, Premier McGuinty has promised 50,000 Green Jobs for Ontario. Fantastic! Excellent! Where do I get one? And, what is Green Job anyway?

The Liberal government hasn’t really defined what a Green Job is but it sure sounds great.

What also isn’t defined is how many existing jobs will be sacrificed. Making steel is a dirty process but steel is used to make wind turbine towers so is steel production now a Green Job or should we shut down all steel plants? Trucking is dirty but trucks carry all parts and equipment to solar and wind plants so is trucking now a Green Job or do we eliminate all trucks? Does it even make sense to use dirty steel and dirty trucking to create Green Energy? For Ontario a Green Job is an oximoron. Nothing more than smoke (dirty) and mirrors.

What will certainly be green is our collective faces when we come to realize that each of these Green Jobs will require a subsidy of somewhere in the order of $200,000.00 per year. This number comes out of  a study of the Liberal Green Energy plan by U of Guelph professor Glenn Fox and co-author ex-banker Parker Gallant.

Green Job? More like a Green Snow Job!

True Cost of Green Energy

What is the true cost of Green Energy in Ontario and who do we believe?

Who do we believe indeed. Premier McGuinty, who has demonstrated to be completely out of touch with reality or a spectacular liar, or U of Guelph professor Glenn Fox and co-author ex-banker Parker Gallant?

The study by Fox and Gallant concludes that “Ontario residents could end up paying some of the highest costs for electricity in the developing world because providing wind and solar energy will cost about 40% more than government estimates…”.  According to this study the Liberal number crunchers didn’t include costs such as  inflation, transmitting electricity to the provincial grid from wind and solar facilities and backup generation. Are you kidding me? These costs were considered insignificant to consider? Furthermore according to the study “The plan also lowballs the costs of backing up renewable energy with natural gas-fired plants when the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining, saying it will cost $1.8 billion when it will likely be closer to $9.6 billion.”

In defence of the Liberal plan Energy Minister Brad Duguid attacked this study saying “There are a number of areas in there that they’ve miscalculated - probably deliberately – but certainly the conclusions they’ve reached are simply incorrect and bogus.’’ Really Minister? We are to believe you as opposed to two individuals who have staked their professional reputations and publically detailed the problems with your plan? The study is very specific in identifying the problem areas whereas the Minister simply calls the study “bogus”. Please Minister be specific, what exactly is bogus about it? Challenge the numbers that are presented and expose the writers for their ”bogus” conclusions and perhaps we’ll start believing something that comes out the Liberal government. Or are we to just accept your childish defence because our Liberal government never lies to us?

Do you use electricity in your home or business? If you’re part of the 99% that does then start getting ready for another electric shock to your wallet! A new election can’t come soon enough.

Ontario Taxes Blowing in The Wind

A very disturbing, but not entirely unexpected, recent report from John Spears of The Toronto Star states that there is “no firm deadline for reporting on the possible health effects of off-shore wind turbines…”

The fact that Ontario bureaucrats don’t have a schedule to work with is no great surprise as it is typical of the Liberal government to keep the wallet open and let our taxes blow in the wind. What is surprising, even to us here at The Parkdale Party, is just how incompetent this government really is. They committed us to a mega project with Trillium Power Wind Corp. without clearly understanding the challenges ahead. The result is a $2.5 billion lawsuit from Trillium due to having their financing deal collapse due to this moratorium.

Energy Minister Brad Duguid is defending his decision and denounced the Trillium lawsuit as “one of the most offensive lawsuits I’ve ever seen”. Really Minister? The most offensive issue we see is the complete lack of common sense and basic intelligence from this government.

In order to determine the potential for health effects from this project the Ministry of Natural Resources has four research projects under way. To do your research after committing to the project is simply unimaginable but is a reflection of just how badly run our Province really is. To add insult to injury, when asked by The Star about the budget for these studies the ministry wouldn’t supply a figure.

If Mr. Duguid was employed in the private sector he would have been escorted out the door immediately but within the Liberal Party he will be congratulated for how cleaver he was to bury this issue until after the Oct. 6th election. Even hard-core Liberals must be wondering just what on this still green earth their leaders are doing.

Keep your wallets open folks, the Liberals are not done cleaning us, and the next few generations, out just yet.

Health Care in Ontario is Sickening!

What on earth is wrong with our Health Care System that finds it acceptable to leave an old lady lying on the floor of a hospital until someone calls 911? If this was some kind of a joke it would be considered tasteless but what do you call it when it actually happens right here in Ontario? Disgusting certainly comes to mind.

Sarah Boesveld’s article in today’s National Post nicely demonstrates how poorly our Health Care System functions.

We all heard about the recent shocking situation with the little girl in China who was run over in the street and then left there bleeding for half an hour, completely ignored by the passers-by. How about a very similar situation in one of our own hospitals right here in Ontario!

The poor lady fell in the entrance of Greater Niagara General Hospital and broke her hip. When her son tried to get some assistance he was told to call 911! What? Are kidding me? Is this a joke? No, unfortunately it’s not but it does show what a joke the Health Care System really is.

If there is any leadership in this Liberal government then heads should roll. Many heads, starting at the top and working right through a few layers of management. Employees usually follow instructions but the responsibility for this insanity rests on the shoulders of management. If their employees don’t know what the protocol is for any such situation then the managers should be dismissed right away for not being competent.

The core problem related to the general weak performance of this Province is the very low quality of the managers. This isn’t rocket science.  To see how to solve this problem you can see the platform of The Parkdale Party at www.parkdaleparty.com.

What? Electricity Prices in Ontario Going Up Already?

Electricity Prices RisingWell, it certainly didn’t take the Liberals long to hike our cost of living.

Buried amidst today’s noise about the non-event happening in downtown Toronto is the notice that electricity rates in Ontario are going up again as of Nov. 1. Another brilliant move by the Liberals to make the announcement while the media is preoccupied with the Occupy Toronto – Occupy Bay Street campground in downtown Toronto.

This type of blatant theft of our tax dollars will continue until we have a serious revolt in this Province. With any luck at all there will be another election within 2 years and then, with some courage to vote with our minds and not our hearts, we will finally kick these bums out. Until that time comes this government will continue to play with us and treat us like the obedient little children that we have demonstrated to be.

There are much more professional and ethical ways to run this Province. For sensible solutions to the effective management of this Province visit our Platform at www.parkdaleparty.com.

Occupy Protest Attracting Mainstream Support

Occupy Portest Gains Mainstream SupportThe Financial Times  published an editorial yesterday supporting the Occupy Protest movement.

In part it says:

So far the protests in the US have been largely peaceful. They may be diffuse and inchoate. But the fundamental call for a fairer distribution of wealth cannot be ignored. What is at stake is the future of the American dream. The bargain has always been that all who work hard should have an opportunity for prosperity. [Read more...]

Occupy Toronto – will it grow legs?

Will the Occupy ”Canada” movement grow legs or will it be shoved aside to obscurity?

Unless a clear message and objective surfaces quickly this wonderful idea will fade away within the week. The problem is that there are too many groups attaching themselves to the movement and potentially hijacking the idea. [Read more...]

Controlling The Message

Eric Erickson has been getting a lot of publicity lately for his anti-occupy stance. He sought to refute the we are the 99% movement by helping to create  we are the 53%

He thinks the people in the occupy movement are whiners and should suck it up. He goes on to point out that he works three jobs and has a house that he can’t sell but doesn’t blame wall street.

Erickson paid $374,000 for a new house in February of this year. It may or may not be worth less than he paid for it, but he also owns another. His three jobs are blogging at redstate.com , a tv job with CNN and a radio job that paid the previous host $165,000 annually.

Ontario needs a better reason to vote.

37% of 49% is 18%.

That’s right, 18% of the eligible votes have set the direction for our Province for the new Term. This certainly is not a resounding victory for the Liberals but it is a victory nevertheless. A very sad statement as to both the quality of the Parties and the complete lack of interest from the public.

I find it hard to believe that people are this lazy and am convinced that there simply was no Party nor leader who resonated with us commoners. They just don’t have a clue about what is happening here at street level. The lost jobs, the underemployment, the wasted spending, the misguided pet projects, and the incredible low quality of the bureaucracy who we entrust to look after our interests.

What the citizens of Ontario need is a much better reason to come out and vote.

The Parkdale Party will give our citizens that reason to come out for the next election and kick these bums out and give the job to people who want value for their tax dollars.

Anyone interested in cleaning our Provincial house just say “VALUE FOR MY TAXES!”
