Nation wide there are more than 1.2 million people out of work yet there were 221,000 job opening at the end of 2012. Ontario keeps burning while the Liberals play games
Ontario’s economic news keeps getting worse but the Liberals want us to disregard the data and let them continue to run the Province. The recent report from Statistics Canada for December shows that the Canadian economy did much worse than most of those “in the know” had predicted and Ontario fared the worst, again. [Read more...]

Ms. Wynne, put down the fiddle and open your eyes
Basking in the glory of her leadership victory newly crowned Premier Kathleen Wynne seems to be completely oblivious to the deteriorating state of her empire. Please Ms. Wynne, learn from Nero’s folly and put down the fiddle before this Province is completely burned to the ground by your Party’s ridiculous ideologies. Ontario’s Apprenticeship……Close the barn door NOW!
As our government takes a time out businesses don’t have the same option. Sales need to be made, orders need to be filled, and receivables need to be collected. This is the Circle of Life in the business world. Taking a time out just isn’t an option but while our politicians play political games privately owned businesses in Ontario are taking a pounding. If we have any chance of surviving the onslaught of international competition, skyrocketing energy costs, and government bungling then we must have the tools we need, and one of the most important ones is a skilled workforce. Ontario’s apprenticeship program is supposed to deliver this critical resource but is failing in a huge way. [Read more...]

Dalton is gone – Let’s fix this mess! Part 4

Apprenticeship is an on-the-job training program for people who want to work in a skilled trade or occupation. Apprentices are paid while gaining work experience and there are currently over 140 apprenticeable trades in Ontario in four sectors: construction, industrial/manufacturing, motive power and service. Now that we have a strong management team we must move to the next phase of the repair process. Mr. McGuinty wanted to be known as “The Education Premier” and spent a great deal of effort and money on increasing the graduation rate in highschool as well as the “all day kindergarten” initiative. The money has been spent and now we must start evaluating the results. [Read more...]
Dalton is gone – Let’s fix this mess! Part 1
Whether we choose to acknowledge it not, Ontario is in trouble. The Education Premier has bolted for the exit leaving a serious mess for the next Liberal leader, as well as the subsequent Premier to be chosen most likely next spring. Before we can start repairing the damage done we must understand the nature and severity of the problem. In very simple layman’s terms following is a preliminary list of issues that must be addressed, and quickly:
A Showdown at the Automotive Corral: Part 2
With tentative agreements between the CAW, Ford, and GM in place we give credit where credit is due. Congratulations to the CAW for bending but not braking and, certainly at this point in time, not shooting themselves in the foot. Of course the devil is in the details but it certainly appears that the companies can live with the agreements without the demands they originally placed to have the Canadian operations at cost par with those in the U.S. But, there are always the conspiracy theorists as to what is the real motive and objective behind these agreements.
