Ontario’s Power Play – Power at Any Price

The recent admission by Ontario’s Liberals that the Mississauga South power plant was cancelled for purely political reasons is, at best, sickening. This information confirms what many of us believed from the outset, and what was categorically denied by McGuinty until now. This Liberal government truly believes that they can do whatever they want and are not accountable to anyone. Our Teflon Premier (with due apologies to DuPont for associating their fantastic product with the garbage that is politics) is easily able to look into the cameras and make idiotic statements knowing that he will not be held accountable by us, the sheep that are the voters. The arrogance that emanates from this man and his party is stomach turning.

First it was $180 million to cancel this plant, then $190 million. Most likely the real number is much higher than even this. Who in their right mind would believe anything that this government says?

The real problem, though, is that we have no idea what is truth and what is fiction with respect to any information that is put out by this party. The Liberals really take us for a bunch of idiots, which we have demonstrated to be by giving them their second and third mandate.

The Liberals are purely a political machine, in place to hold on to power, at any cost. Damn taxpayers, damn businesses, damn workers. Afterall, somehow everything keeps working out for them. No matter how incompetent they have been we have given them the keys to the tax vault, three times now. There is little doubt that as cynical as the average citizen of this Province is about politics, politicians have stooped to a new low in Ontario in the eyes of us citizens.

In order to deflect some criticism, Energy Minster Chris Bentley stated that all three parties were committed to shutting this plant down so the Liberals are no different from the other two. What was not stated was that it was the Liberals who signed the deal in the first place. This is where the problem is, not how best to deal with the problem after the fact. What an idiotic position to take!

Oh yes, one more bit of information. Because the cost of this cancellation was budgeted for, which on its own is mind-boggling, the cost of this disaster will be paid by all taxpayers and not electricity users. Even those who have gone as far as getting off the grid through self-sufficiency will help pay for this mess. Any you thought that your hydro bill was already high!

With the public admission of this Power-At-All-Cost fiasco even the hard-core Liberal supporters must be sick to their stomachs by now, and we still have the similarly cancelled Oakville Power Plant to deal with.
