There was a time when all mail from a government organization requesting information from you came with a stamped return envelope. What happened and why should I pay to mail the government documents that they demand?
Another way to bleed businesses of their cash flow was snuck in some number of years ago and now just about every organization demanding information wants us to pay for the letter. In this age of on-line communication one would think that there would be no need to mail forms to the numerous government organizations. As the cost of stamps continues to rise this is a growing burden, especially once you factor in all associated costs such as the time required to actually go and mail the thing. The needless printing and mailing of requests for information should have been done away with years ago as part of conservation and Green initiatives.
The private sector has taken advantage of the efficiencies available from using technology to communicate with their customers so surely the public sector could do the same. Oh, but then who would pay to support a more and more irrelevant Canada Post!
