Union Busting!

Both Caterpillar and the City of Toronto have recently been accused of trying to bust their unions. The average person only knows what we are told by one side or the other, and often the stories are radically different. Who do you believe? This is much easier to resolve than one may think. If both sides of such conflicts really want to gain the support of the public then all they have to do is open the negotiation process to the public. Don’t feed us selected half-truths and twisted numbers. Negotiate in public and we will support the side that makes the best case. Do the union and management teams have the guts to do this? Not on your life! Keep us in the dark and feed us fertilizer as always and try to win our support with fiction.

The solution is there but the courage isn’t.

  1. What's happening at Caterpillar isn't union-busting. It's unfettered capitalism. And completely legal.
